About Get Fencing Prices
GetFencingPrices.co.uk helps homeowners find independent fencing contractors across the UK. Tell us what needs building or mending and where the property is. Your enquiry can be matched with up to four local businesses, though the number able to quote will vary.
You can enquire without knowing the trade name for the job. Describe the boundary: how long it is, how high, what it is made of and what has gone wrong. Our guides to each type of work explain what a contractor may check and what to look for when quotations arrive.
What happens to your enquiry
We use the job details and postcode to match your request with up to four fencing businesses. A contractor may ask for photographs of the boundary, talk through the job by phone, or visit to measure up. Some small repairs can be priced from pictures; a long run of new fencing rarely can until someone has walked the line.
Four quotes are not guaranteed. Replies depend on local coverage, the type of work and who is available. There is no charge to send the enquiry, and you can turn down every quote. Ask about any survey or call-out charge before agreeing to a visit.
The work covered
Closeboard Fencing Installation
New closeboard boundaries built from posts, arris rails, gravel boards and overlapping boards, for privacy and strength.
Fence Panel Replacement
Swapping rotten or smashed panels, with checks on the posts and gravel boards that hold them up.
Concrete Fence Post Installation
Slotted concrete posts for new fences or to replace timber posts that have rotted at the base.
Garden Gate Installation
Side gates and garden gates, with the hanging post, hinges and latch that keep them swinging true.
Storm-Damaged Fence Repairs
Making safe and repairing fences brought down by wind, fallen branches or floods, including quotes written for insurers.
Composite Fencing Installation
Low-maintenance composite boards and slotted posts, fitted as a compatible system; guarantee terms vary by supplier.
What we ask of contractors
Joining fencing businesses are asked to supply insurance details and references. That does not guarantee the work. Check their current insurance, experience of the fence type you want and recent examples of finished jobs yourself.
Ask how they check for buried pipes and cables before digging post holes; LinesearchbeforeUdig offers free plans. Check the planning rules for your UK nation and property with the local planning authority before changing the height or position.
Your contract is with the contractor
GetFencingPrices.co.uk does not have a team that visits gardens to build fences. An independent business measures the job and offers its own price and terms. Hiring it is your decision. You arrange the booking, contract, payment and any follow-up with that business.
Keep the written quote with the invoice and the guarantee. Note the date of the work and the materials used. For a dispute about the work, Citizens Advice consumer guidance covers your rights if the work falls below the required standard.
Homeowners, landlords and neighbours
Include the postcode and the name of whoever can authorise the work. Tenants should go through the landlord or letting agent. Where a fence is shared, talk to your neighbour first; the GOV.UK guidance on property boundaries explains how to check boundary lines.
Mention any urgent safety issue, such as a fence leaning over a path or a gap that lets a dog onto the road. An enquiry alone does not reserve an appointment or secure urgent attendance.
